Halloween by butterfrog Halloween by butterfrog
A city map with the theme of Halloween for Monte Cook's The Strange.

This one appears in Worlds Numberless and Strange, which haves several worlds (and maps!) of very different kinds. An awesome and most recommended product. -> www.montecookgames.com/store/p…

I LOVED doing this map. Had I the chance, I would have made it twice and big and four times more detailed... Doing a city based on a holiday is just tons of fun.

I recently got the book and the maps very striking. Did you so all or just this one? Having said that, this map in particular is one of my favourites.

I did all of them, and it was quite fun to do such a different variety of maps. I'd this book has been my most fun assignment.

Amazing map! By the way, is there any specific program you use to design these beautiful maps, or do you simply just sketch an idea of the map out? I'd love to know the process behind how these intricate maps are created.

Pencil sketch and Photoshop, that's it. I'll check if I kept the process images of this map.

Thanks!

Wooo, this is awesome! This is actually quite rare to see any isometric village in color and this one is beautifully done!
This is very inspiring and will probably encourage people to do the same.
Thanks for sharing this master piece!

Thanks!

The problem with isometric settlements is that they aren't as "usefull" as bird's-eye view ones, so they are mostly decorative, and few people pay for eye candy cartography.  Also they are waaaaay harder to do than regular top view cartography :P

I didn't realize you'd done the maps in the core book too.  They are awesome!  They should've released a big Shoals of Earth map with "Worlds Numberless and Strange" so I could hang it on my wall...of course I bought the PDF version of the book, so if they did I guess I wouldn't know.

Yeah even thou the Shoals map is kind of "simple", I liked it as much as the World maps and I would had love a big poster map of it as well :D
