Inktober 15 Tombtoad by butterfrog Inktober 15 Tombtoad by butterfrog
Tombtoads are so much alike to gargoyles... scrap that though, that's just not possible...ewwwwww! Only eggs and plant seeds can be "adopted" by butterfrogs. Although I've never seen a gargoyle beign born I'm sure they fall more around the "mammal" (if rocky) realm, but who knows, we live in a weird world where dragons rule the skies and aberrations lurk in the bowels of the world.

The common accepted theory is that this is a mutated rocky or petrifying race of butterfrog (i.e. Cockatroad or Bouldertoads) that breed into a true race of its own. The second popular theory is that these b'toads are created by mad wizards or druids. Haven't confirmed neither yet.

As gargoyles, these b'toads can freeze to pass as statues, but the most peculiar thing of these creepy and stony fellows it's its eerie croak, which echoes as a droning croak coming from everywhere but from its mouth.

You can find these fellows on ancient marshy graveyards or abandoned out-of-the-road chapels. On urban areas they are only found adorning forgotten fountains and sewers, thou they prefered spots are tombs. Go figure.

I think this is one of my favorites sofar.  They are all full of character and part of a living breathing world, but this one seems like a real entry into a real guide to the creatures of X book written by a character in that setting just being baffled with how this creature came to be.

Thanks!

I guess I ws more inspired on this one and the writting came out better. Writing is not my strongest skill so I do what I can.

Also I write the entries real quick, I just try to give enough flavor to describe the b'frog and the most notorious peculiarities, but I do so in about 2 minutes and without any previous prep, so it's all too raw and improvised... Hopefully all will get revised and improved :D
